Left Ankle and Foot Subtalar Arthritis with Surgical Fusion

Left Ankle and Foot Subtalar Arthritis with Surgical Fusion

This medical exhibit portrays degeneration of the left ankle joint after repair of a talar fracture. A lateral (side) skeletal view of the ankle displays the previously placed 5-hole plate and the degenerative changes. The subsequent graphics show the following intra-operative steps of the repair: 1. Incision into the lateral ankle; 2. Removal of fixation plate and debridement of the joint; 3. Placement of graft within the joint space; 4. Placement of long cannulated screw across the joint.
